It may have been three months now since Kimberly journeyed to Florida for a week's stay at the elegant Breakers Resort in Palm Beach, but these photos resonate a timeless summer adventure, capturing the mood of July. Isn't it crazy it's already July?! Duplicity has been in full swing for the last several months on several new projects. We're shooting a multitude of films, collaborations, and slicing through post production on two of our unreleased films. We're very excited to keep things moving and get these projects released, but patience is key, our constant reminder. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy these beautiful seaside snapshots and be sure to check them out on our Instagram too! Kimberly took these on her 35mm Canon AE-1 film camera using Fuji Superia 400 speed film, no color correction needed. Oh the beauty of film...
It's no illusion. When you stand beneath Angels Flight in Downtown Los Angeles, it is in fact "The Shortest Railway in the World." The funicular structure itself embodies all that Los Angeles is to us. It is a piece of history, an iconic location of classic cinema, and an embodiment of how Angelenos have never been big on walking. This is NOT San Francisco. This is Los Angeles, where big, or in this case short, dreams turn into reality. Perhaps that's why it's unlike anywhere else - it's a city that's not afraid to be unique.
One of our favorite films and an incredible 1955 film noir, Kiss Me Deadly, shows Angels Flight in all it's glory. These photos are meant to emulate a little of what you see in the movie.
We talk a lot about our projects and current inspirations here but never much about our personal lives. There's a reason for that. We can sometimes be a little too shy and stressed out - hence our devotion to finding a career behind the camera. But today, we would love to share these pictures that the incredible Isaac Sterling took of us. He's not only a wonderful photographer but a great inspiration and friend. As he can attest to, it took us some time (and a little champagne! and his cat Lucy!) to get us in the right mind space for the photo shoot. We love that Isaac managed to capture our dynamic as wacky sisters and creative partners with a glorious amount of ease. A pro photographer through and through.
